TALBOT

I’m taking a class on the history of photography and I was reading today about Talbot, an English gentlemen, scientist and scholar who helped create camera based imagining with light sensative silver salts. He was a huge reason for a lot of the advances in photography in the early stages of its development. Anyhow he said this about it, and I loved it:

His belief that subject matter is “subordinate to the exploration

                    of space and light.”

What a beautiful exploration, that of space and light, combining the sublime and the beautiful.
